The Comic of the Future… Today!

[Barny Cusp] Pretty sure I can stand by the name of this post because I find it difficult to believe anyone would get up the energy to dispute it. I’m hoping that, like squatting rights, if no-one challenges my claims then after 2 days (or years or whatever) it becomes fact. Of course by then it will be the future… so I’m not sure that it won’t be true then anyway. This what be how metaphysicists and philosophers feel all the time.

Anyway, today’s comic has a distinctly Star Trek feel but twisted in delicious irony (or something) so that it is as true today as the day it was conceived (last week). Many of you will know that there’s a new Star Trek film coming out next year but probably not everyone knows that Sylar is Spock and Shaun is Scotty. Actually, now even I’m not sure who is who.

Fallout 3 continues to entertain though now I have given over entirely to the evil exploits of Constance Blake, scourge of the wastelands. I have a hard time deciding to be that nasty, but the game doesn’t punish you for making evil decisions besides making a lot of people terrified and angry with you. But then being good does the same thing to all the nasty folks out there. At least my Good Old Dad (voiced by Liam Neeson) still seems to love me. Especially since I rescued him from a terrible fate afterstumbling on his location completely at random. I love the way I probably skipped a whole section of the plot where I followed another clue to his location while I was busy breaking and entering. Good times.

Except that we have the PS3 version and new content seems to be… I hope only delayed for that platform. New stuff is coming out soon enough for the PC and XBox and I’m hoping at least that some of the modding tools can create stuff that can be downloaded for the PS3. I’ll do more research, but I suspect my lack of computer processing power on my desktop machine is going to make me a sad camper for a while yet.

Also, there was a recurring problem with the font that seems to crop up in Photoshop. Sometimes, when creating a new panel the font size just gets screwed over and instead of 14 point it needs to be something like 36 point to be the same size. I’m sure it’s some setting wrong somewhere but I have no idea what. Or why. Anyway, it sometimes creates ugly results like some of the text in today’s comic. Bugger it.

Well, seems likely it’s the resolution the original socument is set at. Now all I have to do is work out which of the 2 basic panel set-ups is right and then work out how to remove the other option.

    That was embarrassingly easy…
